This 1993 hit, which actually did better in Karnataka, where it set box office records, compared to Andhra, came after the debacle of Apathbandavudu.
A. Kondandarami Reddy directed this film that was produced by Kamakshi Devi Combines. What is interesting to note is that in light of the subject and the tremendous craze Chiru had obtained after the sensational hit Gharana Mogudu, many analysts and fans believed this film would be Chiru’s political launching pad. However his political career has not materialized to date. Bose (Chiru) is a very patriotic man who fights for the rights of the local market workers against Aatma, the nearby underworld don. Seeing his dedication for helping the working poor, the chief minister (Gummadi) asks him to enter politics. As a politician, he takes charge of a special branch of commandos and destroys Aatma’s illegal operations. In retaliation Aatma has Bose’s sister falsely implicated in a prostution case, after which she commits suicide on the court steps. Bose resigns from his position and takes revenge on Aatma.

Finally, he returns to his old life at the market. Chiru plays the role of a local market worker who becomes a government official well. The rough crudeness of Bose, the market worker, is carried through to Bose, the government official perfectly. To sum it up, it is sort of like the character in Jimmy Stuart’s classic Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, in that Chiru plays an average joe shmoe who suddenly becomes a political heavyweight, yet sticks with his old fashioned, middle class values and ideals of what a politician should be. It is sort of the ideal politician. However great Chiru was here, this is a regular masala film, whereas Stuart’s film is a Hollywood classic. Meena is cute as Bose’s jealous girlfriend and Roja is good as his secretary who thinks that Bose is a cassanova and womanizer. Chiru in these scenes where she depicts to him to be as such is very convincing and reminds one of the Chiru from Mosagadu days. Music is pretty good. Kondaramireddy directed this film well. Overall, it is a good mass entertainer. However, considering that it is a political film, Chiru’s character though sincere, is too one dimensional. He is too pure and just. There is no showing of his agonizing over decisions. He seems to have ultimate control. Though it was a different role for him, if he was given a chacter with an edge or with some weaknesses, as in Kirathakudu, it would have been a more meaningful film.

Story: K. Raghavendra Rao and Chiranjeevi reunited after the Mugguru Monagallu debacle for this avgerage grossing fare that was produced by R. K. Films. Chiru (Vijay) and Sakshi Sivanand are best friends. They share their thoughts, happiness and pain with each other. One day she finds love in a photographer (Suresh) and marries him, while Vijay plays a lover boy and marries Ramya Krishna. However, Sakshi’s happiness ends when she finds out that her husband is two-timing her. Vijay consoles her but his wife is unhappy that he spends so much time with her and gives him an ultamatim. He chooses his friend and takes care of her and her unborn child and later reunites her with her husband. Chiru played a very uncharacteristic soft role. There was no heroic angle to his role in the sense with which his fans are used to, but he gives an excellent performance. At times one does not feel as if he is watching a Chiru film except while enjoying the wonderful dancing and the comic drunken scene, yet Chiru still impresses with his very underplayed performance. He shows he can do any role with ease. The rest of cast performed well. Raghavendra Rao has not been as great as he was and he did an ok job but someone else would have been better. Mani Sharma’s music is excellent, in particular the songs, “Dekh Baba” and “Hey Ruku Ruku,” for which Rambha made a special appearance

Story: First and only film under Chiru and Dasari’s combo, this attempted gangster flick which is inspired from Al Pacino’s SCARFACE didn’t get enough response from viewers, mainly for its poor treatment and sister sentiment.Siblings, Chiru and Revati while travelling with their parents on a ship, were hit by a storm and reach an unknown island without their parents but with an orphan(kalyan chakravarthy).
Chiru takesup the responsibility of raising his younger sister and also the orphan.Chiru does everything possible to earn bread n butter for them, and slowly he transforms from a small time thief to a small time gangleader.
Once he bashes up Dada(satyanarayana)’s men and impressed dada offers him to join hands.But chiru rejects and starts building his own crime empire.He meets Radha at a stage show and radha instantly falls in love with him to sing a couple of quick duets.
The orphan(kalyan) becomes a police officer and starts investigating about the crime done by both gangs.Chiru realizes that Revati is in love with kalyan and now that they both knew the truth about him, are ready to leave him.He pleads them explaining why he had to chose this path, but they leave.
Frustrated chiru destroys the rival gang and also sacrifices his everything just for the sake of his sister.Chiru’s character was well projected initially, but was shown very weak in his sister’s aspect. Story: Produced by Editor Mohan and directed by Mutyala Subbaiah, this 1997 super hit proved to be the comeback vehical which Chiru was looking for. It definitely redeemed Chiru after Alluda Majaka because Hitler is a clean entertainer with the male lead appealing to the sentiments of the female telugu audience. Hitler is another testament to the point that Chiru is not just a pakka mass hero but one who is loved by all age groups and all classes. It also shows that Chiru still has a great hold over the female audience and any questions of his losing the female fan base because of Alluda Majaka can be put to rest by their large viewership of this film. It is a remake of a Malayalam film by the same name.Madhava Rao (Chiru) is a loving yet strict brother of five younger sisters. Life is fine until one of his sisters, Ammo, elopes with her bava (Rajendra Prasad) because Madhava has her eldest sister marry a widower. She is banished from the house but she moves in next door. Their father (Dasari Narayana Rao) comes back to see his children, but they hate for deserting them and their mother and marrying someone else. The village goons (Rami Reddy, Prakash Raj) in order to get back at Madhava have his sisters’ dance teacher take them to a shady motel, but their father rescues them. However, he is blamed for their being in a police station. Later their father is murdered and his two daughters from his second marriage stay with Madhava. His other sisters are unhappy and go to Ammo’s house. Her husband in trying to fix everything is ambushed and attacked and blames Madhava, who after fighting the villains, decides to leave. But he stops and returns to his family. Chiru plays the dictatorial brother for which he is called “Hitler” by the village guys for not allowing them to talk to his sisters very well. While he shows his ferociousness well, he plays the other side of Madhava Rao, the loving brother willing to sacrifice all for his sisters equally potently. Chiru is just too good. The rest of the cast does a good job. Rambha as Madhava’s maradallu is good while Rajendra Prasad is pleasant. Subbaiah, the sentimental expert, does a great job again. Music by Koti is ok but the “Abibbi” song has great choreography by Lawrence. Overall a good, neat film, with Chiru in a dignified role that has him in a powerful light as well as giving him a chance to perform well. The film can be watched by women, masses, kids, everyone.

Story:After two consecutive hits in the early 80’s, Chiru and Sridevi came together in a film that revolutionized the socio-fantasy scene. Directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by Ashwini Dutt, this film went on to become one of the biggest hits in 1990. The story revolves around Raju (Chiru), a guide and caretaker of 4 young orphans. One day he comes upon a magical ring in the Himmalayas, where he had gone to search for a cure for one of the children, who was accidently injured. The ring belongs to a celestial being, Indraja (Sridevi), the daughter of Lord Indra. She comes back to Earth to retrieve it. During her earthly voyage, she becomes close with the orphans, is kidnapped by a sourceror who wants to sacrifice her to become immortal, is rescued, and eventually finds true love, Raju. She, at the end, throws away her ring and goes to her love instead of returning to her heavenly abode.
Chiru and Sri were brilliant in this film. Chiru, as a caretaker of orphans whose life changes because of an unearthly visitor, excelled in his role. Sri was tremendous as Indraja, a heavenly visitor who comes into contact with humans and their inventions. They had excellent on-screen chemistry, and the fed off of each other very well. For the first time, Sri had met her equal, whether it was in talent, charisma, or dancing, though she had worked with great artists before. As the title suggests, they made a heavenly pair. K. Raghavendra Rao made a delightful family film. Illayaraja provided really memorable music, in particular for the songs, “Priyathama” and “Abanee Theyanee Debba.” The film with all the rich settings and costumes had a very grand look to it. This film showed the tremendous hold both Chiru and Sri have over the young audience as the film was enjoyed and appreciated by children, as well as fans and families.

Story: The movie starts with a panchayati scene under a tree in a village whereRGR,the village head, judges a dispute between Mukkamala and a Rowdy.Mukkamala, a resident of the village, leaves it in some unknowncircumstances and returns to the village after 15 years. He learns that hisproperty (house) was owned illegally by a Rowdy and he is not willing togive the proprty back to Mukkamala. And hence the Panchayati.As usual, RGR (the Villian) supports the Rowdy and does injustice toMukkamala. Having no enough power to face the Rowdy or the village head, heagain leaves the village.
Hero fights with the Rowdy (staying in Mukkamala’s property) and owns hisproperty and does good to the village people. Village people start callinghim RUSTUM.Hero works for the village welfare and acts promplty for any help needed.RGR sets a trap to kick Hero out of the village. As a part of his trap, RGRgives the village head post to Hero. Mean while Hero and Oorvasi (RGR’sdaughter are in love). and also gets closer to Annapoorna and Gummadi, acouple that are affected by RGR’s injustice.Once Hero is suspected as the cause for a village girl’s suicide and wasasked to leave the village. Even the heroine suspects the hero.In the trial to prove that he is not the reason behind the suicide, helearns that GB is the main reason. RGR fixes up Satyanarayana, Gummadi’sbrother — who just gets released from prison, to kill Chiru.
Meanwhile, GB goes to city and tracks down Mukkamala and why Hero came andfought for Mukkamala’s property.GB learns the whole loop and passes it on to RGR.The loop is — Chiru, is none other than Gummadi’s son. Once when he was akid, sees a murder (done by RGR and fixes up Satyanarayana as muderer) andtries to escape from the murder scene. Mukkamala, who is Gummadi’s palEru,saves the kid and takes him to city.Searching for his son at the same time, Gummadi comes to murder spot and asper RGR’s fix, Gummadi beleives that Satyanarayana is the murderer and hencegets him arrested.Mukkamala, Satyanarayana and Chiru plans to treat a good lesson to RGR anddo good to the village.
As a part of their plan, Satyanarayana and Chiru fights as if they are realopponents. But when RGR comes to know the truth from GB, he kidnaps thewhole Chiru’s family (Gummadi, Annapoorna, Mukkamala, Satyanarayana).Knowing the truth, Oorvasi helps Chiru in proving that RGR is a villain.The climax fight is very good shot in a Mango garden.After the climax fight there is one more twist. Chiru, the hero, comes in aninspector costume and arrests RGR. So, in the flash back, the kid-Chiru wasrescued by Mukkamala and he made the kid an inspector with the help ifSatyanarayana (with the money he earned while he was in prison).

Story:

The Aatmalingam is situated in Himalayas that posses enormous divine powers. Once every 72 years, Akasa Ganga from sky flows into the Aatmalingam. The ones who can drink holy water of Akasa Ganga that flows through Atmalingam at that moment would become younger and remain eternal with supernatural powers.

In 1932, a youngster called Bhatia (Bhupinder Singh) attempts to get hold of Atmalingam and drink Akasa Ganga. But one of the powerful tools of God truncates his right arm. He grows up and Bhatia's (Tinu Anand) age is 99. Bhatia searches for the traces of Aatma Lingam, but in vain. The Akasaganga is slated to flow to earth for Atmalingam in 2004 again.

A professor who made a lifetime research on Aatmalingam and Akasaganga possesses vital information in a red diary and he couriers it to his student Swapna (Namrata Sirodkar) who is in USA. Swapna is forced to come back to India in search of her professor in forest areas near Uravakonda. There she realizes that her professor is killed. She takes help of Anji (Chiranjeevi). Anji (Chiranjeevi) is a good Samaritan in Uravakonda forest area. He serves the most revered Sivanna (Nagababu)- an ayurvedic specialist - and raises 4 orphans.

Bhatia's men start their hunt for Swapna During this period, Anji accidentally stumbles on 'Atmalingam' and gets it into his possession. After coming to know about it, Bhatia and his men are after Anji and Swapna. And the D Day of Akasa Ganga is fast approaching. Sivanna advises Anji that the Atmalingam should be sent back to where it belongs. Would Anji be able to send Atmalingam where it belongs? Would Bhatia succeed in remaining eternal? Story: Stalin opens with a scene where a girl is trapped into skin business and when goons try to kidnap her from stalin’s house, his mother, Saarada challenges them to cross the street.
Enters Chiranjeevi as STALIN to beat their pulp out.
Stalin is an ex-army man who had to quit his army job for some reasons which are revealed at proper time in the movie.
He helps physically challenged people and in one instance, one such girl commits suicide because nobody has time to help her.
STALIN is depressed but is motivated by hadicapped children helping each other in a race.
He gets motivated from it and extends his help to others in need and in return asks them to help 3 more such needy people.
He expects a chain to form, but it doesn’t work when he tries to crosscheck them.Meanwhile, he hits a person for behaving brutally to a begging orphan and that person uses his politcal connections to hit back at stalin.
Stalin’s sister,Khushboo who gets seperated from their family after marriage and her friend Chitra(Trisha) are heldup by goons and stalin rleases them and in this process chases one of them into party’s office and chops his hand off.

Enters pradeep rawat who challenges stalin and in turn stalin insults him and his wife in front of his guests in his house.
His wife, Ravali asks her father, who is home minister Muddu Krishnayya(Prakash Raj) to solve this.
STALIN challenges him too and he tries to use chief minister to trap stalin.
Meanwhile C.M notices this chain reaction started by stalin and tries to know its root.
Climax deals with how stalin gets C.M out of villain’s hands and how people reacting to his chain system build a better society.

Chiranjeevi excels as a man who tries to reform the society after his service at border in army.
His dialogues have punch, his expressions are unique and his dances are as usual a treat to watch.
Especially in first song, parare parare he shows unique dancing styles again.
Trisha is limited to romantic angle only. Sarada and Khushboo who are seen on screen after long gap, excel in their roles.
Sunil gets good footage in climax scene.
Prakash raj’s performance as old politician is great showing his multidimensional talent.
Fights are lengthy but well composed. Choreography is worth mentioning in first song only.
There isn’t justification for few scenes like what stalin did for living after coming back from army etc. but overall a good entertainer for fans.

Story

This time Megastar changed the gear though riding to same destination, Tagore is a very good message oriented movie with proper commercial ingrediants. Chiranjeevi’s introduction (Titles) got good applause from audience which is different from earlier movies.
His dance in kodithe kottali song is on par with his best which includes the famous sixer step and a continuous dance bit for 30 seconds.
Coming to the story..Tagore is a professor at a college who forms a group with students whose aim is to demolish the corruption in society, and in this process he chooses the targeted corrupt set of people and kills the top most corrupt among them.
This fear of death effectively controls corruption throughout the state.
One day, he bashesup few goons who try to close their college during exams. Later he saves shriya, who claims to be a social worker from them.
Shriya gets close to him and his kids. She enquires about his kids and finds that all of them are orphans and chiru is giving shelter to them.
After a couple of songs chinnaga chinnaga and vaanochenante, chiru takes one of his kids to a super speciality hospital and is billed heavily for a minor injury.
Frustrated chiru comesback with a masterplan and uses a deadbody to cheat the entire hospital staff. Later he claims for money for treating a deadbody.
Hospital is closed and unable to bear this insult, the hospital MD commits suicide.
Enters the villain, Sayaji Shinde, who is a gangster and builder in kolkatta and is also the father of deceased MD of that hospital. He spots chiru in a surveillance video recording in hospital and is shocked to see him alive !

Interval…

Second half starts with chiru’s flashback, where chiru and jyothika’s marriage scene is shown.
After some light comedy and a couple of songs, Jyothika and her kid are killed in a fire accident which occurs when the apartment collapses.
Chiru’s acting is extraordinary in this scene, when he sees his wife and kid burned to ashes. He realizes that builder, who is none other than sayaji shinde is behind this, and asks for justice. When turned down, he bashes everyone black and blue but is hit and thrown away by villain’s henchmen.
A group of medicos save him, and he decides to form a network of students who spread themselves into different government departments and gather information about most corrupt officials.
When, people stop taking bribes, gangsters use the fear factor to get their work done. So, Tagore decides to clean them out too. In this process he kidnaps a bunch of gangsters and kills the villain.
A special officer from delhi, Punnet Issar is deployed to solve this case, who uses a constable PrakshRaj’s investigative conclusions and arrests all ex-students of that college and gives them a redroom treatment. But, he fails to know their cheif’s name.
Unable to see the torture on his students, chiru decides to surrender himself on a condition that all those who were arrested will get back their jobs unconditionally.
Tagore is arrested and is presented in a special court, where he refuses to plead guilty.
Cheif minister(K.Viswanath) requests him to appeal for kshamabiksha. But, tagore replies naaku telugu bashalo nachani padam..kshaminchadam.
His speech in court is terrific.
In the end, tagore is sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and is released thereafter.

Story:
This movie is a murder mystery.
chiru is a college student who is daring and dashing and has a weakness for betting and challenges.
Narayana Rao is chiru’s friend in the same college and once he challenges chiru to kill a person and escape without being caught and without proof and this person is a professor.
Chiru takes it lightly and tries to play away by acting as if he killed the professor but he is really killed by the time he reaches there and he is accused of he murder.
The rest of the plot forms on how he frees himself from the blame and who killed the professor and why?
This movie was produced by chiru’s friend and former roommate Narayana Rao and thus he also gets an important role in the movie.
Chiru gets a rich brat who is fond of adventures kind of role and he does well as per the demand. Music is not good and there are no notable hits in the movie.

Story:
Produced on Sri Sairam Arts banner, with Megastar Chiranjeevi and Soundarya as the lead pair, ‘Annayya’ is directed by Muthyala Subbayya.
This good storyline in tune with Chiranjeevi’s high profile, plus the excellent technical expertise is sure to make a positive impact on the audience. The movie revolves around the elder brother’s unbounding love for his younger siblings.
While fighting against the wrongs done for the laborers, Rajaram (Chiranjeevi), owner of a fleet of lorries, meets Devi (Soundarya), the garment factory owner. After that acquaintance, she once seeks his help in dealing with two street ruffians, who were teasing her sisters, Lata (Chandini) and Geeta (Sishwa), and is shocked when the culprits turn out to be his brothers, Ravi (Ravi Teja) and Gopi (Venkat).

Rajaram takes the incident lightly as the pranks of youngsters and is very lenient to them. With more such incidents the two come together and fall in love, with the brothers and sisters not far behind.
On his brothers’ request Rajaram approaches Devi for her sisters’ hand in marriage to his brothers. But she curtly refuses her consent on grounds that the two are wayward drunkards. Rajaram reacts sharply to it and vows to get his brothers married to her sisters.

Since then on he is more exacting with his brothers and brings about a transformation in them. Devi agrees for their marriage. But the incorrigible brothers come in an inebriated condition for their engagement and Rajaram faces the brunt of Devi’s ire. She insults him and leaves the place with her sisters. An outraged Rajaram kicks his brothers out of home.

The two brothers being state rank holders in engineering find favor with a businessman, Rangarao (Saratbabu), who employs them.
Rajaram, who is genuinely fond of his brothers, sells away his property and gives money secretly to Rangarao, paving way for a partnership deal between Rangarao and his brothers.
Piqued at being kicked out of home, his brothers, unaware of his hand in securing the partnership for them, nurse grudge against their brother and insult Rajaram in Devi’s presence. She, being in know of matters, slaps them and opens their eyes by informing them of his sacrifice. This brings about a total change in them and the repentant duo go to Rangarao to restore the property to their brother.

But Rangarao has other plans and tries to get them killed with gundas and the two brothers escape death and land in a hospital with injuries. A furious Rajaram goes to Rangarao, who reveals him his real identity. Rangarao is the brother of Chinna Rao (Bhupendra Singh), a criminal who was caught in the police dragnet with Rajaram’s help and later died. This is Rangarao’s vendetta. In the ensuing melee, Rangarao gets killed.
Muthyala Subbaiah, who gave Chiranjeevi a hit movie with “Hitler” by exploiting sisterly sentiment, has done it again, this time with brotherly sentiment.

Already equipped with all the trappings necessary to impress the masses, the movie has a light entertaining comedy track, catering to all tastes and is sure to be a hit with the audience. Rajaram’s role is unique in the sense that it is a blend of goodness and comic relief.
Chiranjeevi has excelled himself and lived the role to the hilt. The uniqueness of the role provided him plenty of leverage to reveal his myriad acting nuances. Soundarya, who usually dons sentimental roles that require acting prowess, looks different in her glamor-doll-role. As the uncle who chides Rajaram for pampering his brothers, Kota is impressive. Mani Sharma’s music is appealing,especially Sayya re Sayya and a sizzling dance number with Aata kaavala with Simran. Cameraman, Chota K Naidu’s hard work is clearly visible reflected in the movie. For the many Chiranjeevi fans, who go to see their celluloid hero, this movie brought them cheer.

Chiru is a music master brought up by Satyanarayana and Nutan prasad in a village.
He wants to become a police constable. But on his first day in duty he fights against injustice of subinspector and quits his job.Kota is a rich man in the village with his daughter bhanupriya who is head strong and proud of her riches.
In a brawl with chiru she seeks revenge and acts as his disciple wanting to learn music and later accuses him of attempting to rape her with the help of new SI of the village Asirayya (Mohanbabu) but later realises her mistake and his good nature and falls in love with him.
Though reluctant to marry her, chiru is convinced by Sathyanarayana and nutan prasad to accept her into his life and they marry. Kota is enraged by this and sends a goon to kill him and in a fight the goon loses and chiru leaves him at kota’s house warning him not to enter his life again.
The goon is killed by Kota and chiru is accused of his murder and is put in jail.
The rest of the story forms on how Chiru proves his innocence and how he brings the villains to justice.Excellent screenplay and angry young man portrayal of chiru’s character are highlights in this movie, which also has the all time hit Guvva Gorinkatho song which catapulted Bhuvanachandra’s career into top slot with this being his third film only.
Watch out for excellent fights by Chiru also. The hit combo of Vijayabapineedu and Chiru is once again proved with this movie.

Story

After the super success of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Chiru and Sri come together in this 1994 flop. There was much hype surrounding this film. sp parasuramThough it had a good storyline, it was not handled properly by director Ravi Raja Pinisetty.
Chiru plays a police official who is very rash and is willing to arrest his own family for the sake of the law. Harish, his brother, is caught in a blue film gang, and Sri, a common thief, almost becomes a victim but manages to escape. Because she is a witness, she is later assaulted and becomes blind. How Chiru protects her and how the villains try to take revenge on him form the crux of the story.
Chiru plays a tough cop very well, and Sri plays a blind woman perfectly. One scene in which she excelled was the scene where he tells her that she had accidentally poisoned their baby. Though her talents were not utilized fully, she managed to maintain her presence in the film and provide comic relief in the first half. This film showed that Chiru is great at delivering dialogues, in particular in the scene where he is giving a speech to a crowd while the stage is on fire. Keeravani’s music is not upto the mark. photography and fights are excellent.

Story: This critically acclaimed film by director k. Viswanath and produced by Poornodya Movies, released at the wrong time after the smash mass hit Gharana Mogudu. While fans expected a mass entertainer, Chiru shocked everyone with a deglamorized, self-piteous role in this flop film.
Chiru plays the role of Madhava, the loyal friend, servant, and cowhand to Hema (Meenakshi Seshadhri) and her father (Jhandhyala). He also stars in plays, in which he plays Lord Shiva. In order to pay for Hema’s elder sister’s wedding, Madhava sells his cows and gives the money to a family friend to give to Hema’s father as a loan. When her father hears what he has done, he gifts Madhava with his manuscripts. Madhava goes to town to have them printed. When he returns, he sees Hema being taken away by an insane assylum van. He learns that Hema has gone into shock after her brother-in-law tried to rape her and in the process killed her sister who tried to prevent him. Madhava pretends to be crazy and enters the assylum, where he goes through many hardships in order to save her. He, after stopping a guard from attacking her, is falsely accused of attempted rape and is electricuted. Afterwards, he goes into a daze and stutters. He tries many times to help her regain her memory. When she finally does and realizes what he did for her, she wants to marry him after she is safely rescued. However, he objects due to his being of a lower strata of society. But her fiancee (Sharat Babu) convinces him and Madhava agrees.
Many actors, who are caught in an image, are unable to get a career defining role or if they do, it is either too early or too late in their careers. Chiru is very lucky. He had gotten career defining roles earlier in his career, like Punnami Nagu, during his meteroic rise (Swayam Krushi), and after solidifying superstardom in the form of this film. He took a bold risk in doing this film for which he won many awards from filmfare and the state government. What makes this role stand out among the many caree defining roles, like Rudra Veena, Chantiabbai, 47 rozzullu, Swayam Krushi, and Punnami Nagu, is that Chiru had out done his earlier performances by a mile. He was simply brilliant as loyal cowhand who gives up his freedom and at times his insanity for his best friend. While pretending to be a crazy, childlike man, he successfully threaded the fine line of restraint and over-acting without going over-board. The scene where he stutters, or where after Hema’s father dies, he goes to the other side of the river and makes a Shiva Lingam, only to question the Lord about his actions, make the audience speechless, as they see his great talent. He makes you cry and at the same admire him for his courage. Every level of the character, from his patience with the shock ridden Hema, to his love of her family, to his childlike innocence, to his pride of playing the best Shiva, to his insanity, pain, and undying yet unspoken of love for her were perfectly portrayed by him. It is truly a national award worthy performance. Meeankshi too was brilliant as was Jhandhyala. Chiru and Meenakshi had great on-screen chemistry. Music by M.M. Keeravani is terrific. K. Viswanath directed a gem of a film, which was not only a story of true friendship and love, but also one of how the question of caste prevented Madhava and Hema from showing their love for each other earlier on in the film.
